📈 Monchengladbach v RB Leipzig Form & Stats

Monchengladbach have long been a midtable side in the Bundesliga, with their finishes ranging from 4th-10th over the last 10 years. This consistency is admirable, as bigger clubs than Gladbach have faced the drop in recent seasons, though we may be starting to see the start of a gradual decline from Gladbach, with no real signs that they are looking to progress.

Gladbach have only won three of their 11 matches in the Bundesliga this term, with all three of these victories coming in their last three matches. This is a positive step in the right direction, but the issues for Gladbach are still glaring. Their home record will be of particular concern, with just one win from six matches so far, and 14 goals conceded across these fixtures.

Leipzig are doing their best to keep pace with Bayern Munich at the summit of the Bundesliga, but the relentless nature of Vincent Kompany’s side makes this a pretty thankless task. That being said, Leipzig are only six points behind the league leaders and their main focus will be on the teams slightly below them, with Leverkusen, Dortmund and Stuttgart all within touching distance.

Leipzig’s main aim this season is to get back into the Champions League, which is a target that should be well within their reach given how they’ve started the campaign.

📔Monchengladbach v RB Leipzig Formation & Team News

Monchengladbach are expected to line up in a 4-4-2 here, which is the shape that has brought them success in recent matches after a really poor start to the campaign. This shape allows for Gladbach to control games a bit more, as proven by the fact they’ve kept two clean sheets across their last three victories. This probably won’t be enough to keep a side with the attacking quality of Leipzig out, but it is a good blueprint for the rest of Gladbach’s season.

Keep an eye on Haris Tabakovic for the home side here, he’s easily their most important player in the final third with nine goal contributions to his name across just seven starts for Gladbach this term. He has scored in each of his last six appearances for club and country, so carries some excellent form into what should be a high scoring affair.

Leipzig line up in a 4-3-3 with a focus on platforming their wide players. Antonio Nusa and Yan Diomande have been electric in recent weeks for Leipzig, and can continue to pose a threat here. Nicolas Seiwald in the middle of the park is also crucial to how Leipzig like to play, with the Austrian ranking high in the squad for tackles (2.58 per 90) and interceptions (3.08 per 90).

Leipzig are expected to be without Benjamin Henrichs, as well as Romulo Cruz who has made a really promising start to his Leipzig career. Cruz’s absence does open the door for Conrad Harder, who is yet to find his feet at Leipzig, but can be a real threat for the Bundesliga side when he settles into the team.
