Brighton v Man City

Competition: Premier League

Manchester City will be aiming to stop the rot following a string of three successive away defeats when they make the trek south to take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League’s Saturday evening offering.
Nursing their wounds following largely unfortunate back-to-back defeats against Liverpool in the league and Carabao Cup, Brighton will hope for more luck this weekend, though Albion have failed to win each of their last six encounters with the Cityzens (1D, 5L).
⭐ Brighton v Man City Best Bets
Fixtures at the Amex Stadium have come with a guarantee of entertainment this season and seven of Brighton’s eight outings there in league and cup featured over 2.5 goals. Four or more goals were registered in their last five assignments on home soil alone, with the away team notching at least twice on each occasion.
Meetings between Albion and City have produced similar trends in recent campaigns with over 2.5 goals registered in six of their last seven encounters and BTTS landing in five of the same games. Both defences have looked vulnerable over the last month and another high-scoring tussle is anticipated here.

🔍 Brighton v Man City Players to Watch
🔵 Pervis Estupinan
Ecuadorian fullback Pervis Estupinan didn’t hold back in Brighton’s tough assignment against Liverpool last weekend and the 26-year-old committed an incredible eight fouls at Anfield, somehow avoiding a booking for his litany of indiscretions.
The 26-year-old, who has been averaging 2.08 fouls per 90 minutes in the Premier League overall this season, should have just as much defensive work to get through against City on Saturday, and Estupinan is backed to foul at least twice again.
🔵 Danny Welbeck
With six goals in ten Premier League appearances, the evergreen Danny Welbeck has been a potent force in the final third for Brighton this term and the 33-year-old has been averaging a healthy 3.11 shots and 1.29 shots on target per 90 for Albion in the top tier since the summer.
Welbeck has a knack for rising to the occasion in high-profile fixtures and the veteran has already lodged shots on target in games against Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool this season. Back Welbeck to test Ederson with at least one effort on Saturday.
🟡 Savinho
Savinho is still finding his feet at City and while the winger still hasn’t broken his duck for the champions, it hasn’t been for the want of trying and the 20-year-old has been averaging 2.58 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League from his berth on the flank.
The Brazilian lodged another six attempts at goal in City’s loss to Sporting in the Champions League in midweek and Savinho has now clocked at least two shots in eight of his last nine starts for City in all competitions. Look for the South American to let fly at least twice again against Brighton.

💻 Brighton v Man City Form and Tactics
Despite thoroughly dominating the contest in terms of possession (72% – 28%) and shots (19-7), Manchester City slipped to a head-turning 4-1 defeat against a clinical Sporting side in the Champions League in midweek to prolong their miserable recent run of results on the road.
The Cityzens will play their fourth away fixture in the spin this weekend and having lost each of their first three tests, they will be desperate to avoid completing a full set of defeats before returning to Manchester.
City have been remarkably wasteful in recent weeks, netting just a single goal in each of their last four matches despite averaging 2.16 in xGF and 18.50 shots per game during that run.
Erling Haaland, who missed a crucial penalty against Sporting on Tuesday evening, has been uncharacteristically off-colour and the Norwegian has scored just once in his last five Premier League appearances from a combined xGF of 3.90 and a shot tally of 22.

Still, City are manufacturing more than enough chances to win most games and it feels like a matter of time until things start to click for them in the final third again. The return from injury of skipper Kevin De Bruyne should help massively in that regard.
Brighton meanwhile, impressed in both of their recent defeats to Liverpool and Albion had enough clear cup openings last weekend to have earned at least a point at Anfield in the teams’ Premier League encounter on Merseyside.
The Seagulls sit a healthy fifth in the league for average shots mustered per 90 (14.90) and fourth for average possession controlled per game (55.2%), while only four teams have had more touches in the attacking third than Brighton (166.2 p/90).
Albion are still undefeated in the league at the Amex Stadium under new boss Fabian Hurzeler, so expect Brighton to make life awkward for a City side operating without the sound defensive axis of Rodri, Stones, and Dias.
