Dango Ouattara 1+ to have Shots on Target

Ouattara made the perfect start to his Brentford career with the winning goal against Aston Villa in the Bees’ first home game of the season. He played on the right wing but drifted into central areas at times to support Thiago, which is a movement that can aid our selection here.

Ouattara had two shots on target in that game, which were the only two efforts on goal that Keith Andrews’ side had, so he has added some direct goal threat to the Brentford frontline - which they were desperately missing in the absence of Mbeumo.

Brentford usually generate high quality chances, no side has boasted a better xG per shot than Brentford last season (0.14) and Keith Andrews should be able to maintain this, with Brentford utilising many of the same structures that Thomas Frank used so far.

Yehor Yarmoliuk to Commit 1+ Fouls

Yarmoliuk has committed four fouls across his two Premier League appearances this season (2.13 per 90). He averaged 1.19 fouls committed per 90 across his 31 Premier League appearances last term and is playing for a Brentford side that I expect to commit a lot more fouls this season than they did last campaign.

Brentford committed 15 fouls against Nottingham Forest in their opening game of the season, with Yarmoliuk committing three of these; and then 11 fouls against Aston Villa, with the Ukrainian midfielder responsible for one of these infringements, as well as making more tackles than any other player (3).

Both of these foul counts are well above Brentford’s average of 8.40 fouls committed per game in the Premier League last season, only Man City committed fewer fouls than the Bees last term.

Over 0.5 Sunderland Goals

I was a bit disappointed with Sunderland in their defeat to Burnley last time out in the Premier League, but they have managed to score four goals across their two games at the Stadium of Light this season in the EFL Cup and the Premier League.

Regis Le Bris’ side must pick up points in front of their home fans to be within a chance of staying up this season, and I think they can breach the Brentford backline at least once here. Keith Andrews’ side conceded three goals on the opening weekend of the season away against Nottingham Forest.

Brentford also conceded 22 goals across their 19 away games last season (1.15) and I expect them to be a bit more porous on the road this season, when looking back over their opening day performance at the City Ground.

🔴 Sunderland Must Make Home Advantage Count

Sunderland started the season on a real high with a 3-0 win over West Ham in their first game back in the Premier League since the 2016/17 season, but have since been brought back to reality with a 2-0 defeat against Burnley, followed up by a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Huddersfield.

Sunderland’s home form will be crucial to any chances they have of staying up this season, and they do have the firepower between Isidior, Guiu and Mayenda to ensure that they produce the goals in order to stay up.

It looks as though Regis Le Bris is going to set his side up to play on the counter and make the most of transitions, which is a sensible approach in a league which has been unforgiving to the newly promoted sides in recent seasons.

🟤 Brentford Look Brighter Than Expected Under New Boss

Brentford have made a bright start under Keith Andrews, it was a tough start for the new boss as he watched his side crumble at the City Ground to a 3-1 defeat, but they have since responded with back to back wins against Aston Villa and Bournemouth, keeping clean sheets in both of these matches.

Brentford do have a solid core, even if they are missing the goals of Wissa and Mbeumo. The former is still at the club, but we haven’t seen any sign of him this season, which would still suggest that he will leave the club before the window is out.

I do think Brentford are slightly lacking in goals without that duo, and they may find it more difficult on the road against stubborn sides.

📊 Sunderland v Brentford H2H

The most recent head to head meeting between these sides was back in 2018, and saw Brentford run out 2-0 winners.
