The Golden Boot Winner markets are usually quite enticing, with some massive prices on offer. For this market, you want to choose a team who should make it far in the competition, and one with a slightly easier group draw. Argentina tick both of those boxes here - they are in Group J alongside Algeria, Austria and Jordan, and they are massive favourites to top the group. 

Then you want to choose a player who looks set to start regularly, and that should be Julian Alvarez. He started 16 of Argentina’s games in the qualifying stages, and he was the only player to feature in all 18 matches. Alvarez scored four goals for his national side, but he has benefitted from regular game time at Atletico Madrid this season, and he has scored 14 goals. 

Only Lionel Messi scored more goals for Argentina during the qualifiers, and his participation at the 2026 World Cup is not yet confirmed. Alvarez should be given a massive role up front regardless of whether Messi plays or not, and this price just looks too big.

There are a couple of appealing bets in this market, the first of which is for Scott McTominay to be Scotland’s top scorer.

Even though the Napoli man probably won’t be on spot-kick duties, he is the main threat for his side going forward, and this bet landed at Euro 2024.

Not only that, but McTominay was Scotland’s top scorer at the Nations League and in the World Cup qualifiers.

Next is Ivan Perisic of Croatia - the 37-year-old is still going strong, and he played all eight of Croatia’s qualifying matches, with six of those being starts. He scored four goals in that time, with one of those coming from the penalty spot.

USA find themselves alongside Paraguay and Australia, and the fourth spot is yet to be determined. The sides they can potentially face are Slovakia, Kosovo, Turkey or Romania - Turkey are the strongest of the bunch there, but the USA will still fancy their chances. 

Netherlands also look like the overwhelming favourite to top their group, although this price is on the shorter side. Still, they are with Tunisia and Japan in Group F so far, with the final team yet to be confirmed.

It will be between Ukraine, Sweden, Poland and Albania - teams the Netherlands will be familiar with. Realistically, Japan will be their main competitor for top spot, but some of their key players have struggled this season - Wataru Endo might be out of the tournament after suffering an ankle injury, while Kaoru Mitoma also hasn’t featured regularly for Brighton.
