Although Juve are high-flying, there is pressure mounting on head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Not only are the Turin giants 20 points off the pace of Serie A leaders Inter, but the style of football they have employed this season has been lamentable.
Cagliari, on the contrary, are languishing just above the relegation zone but are on stronger form than their storied visitors. The hosts have lost just one of their last eight, while their home record over the course of the season is respectable given their league standing.
Historically, Claudio Ranieri’s side have struggled against Juventus, but with the teams in contrasting form ahead of this Friday night fixture, they will fancy their chances of springing an upset.

🏆 Match stats: Value on Cagliari but don’t expect goals
Odds of 1.73 on Juventus to win this match are very short given the run that the two clubs are on. Indeed, this price seems to be based around their reputation rather than the respective form of the teams. Cagliari, meanwhile, are attractive at a big price of 5.
Certainly, the hosts deserve more respect than their price suggests. Last weekend, they went to San Siro and secured a 2-2 draw against an Inter side that is running away with the title. Furthermore, they are undefeated in four at home, including a 2-1 win over an Atalanta side chasing Europe just a couple of weeks ago.
Backing Ranieri’s underdogs on the handicap market appears the best value. They are priced at 2.0 with a one-goal start and 1.3 when given a two-goal advantage. The latter bet looks especially strong given Juventus have only won away from home by more than a single goal once since doing so in their opening two trips of the season.
It’s probable that goals will be at a premium, meanwhile. Juventus are a notoriously dull side to watch. This is reflected in their last four league matches, which have produced an aggregate total of just two goals. Juve have not managed more than three shots on target in any of these fixtures but equally have given up a total of just 10.
It is worth noting, though, that Allegri’s side won the previous meeting of these sides earlier this season 2-1.
Predictions:
⚽ Cagliari (+1) handicap @ 2.00
⚽ Cagliari (+2) handicap @ 1.33
🎯 Shooting stats: Vlahovic to shoot on sight
Juventus have been struggling to get shots on target in recent games, with Federico Chiesa the only player in their squad who has worked the opposing goalkeeper in more than just one of their last four in Serie A.
To this end, he looks the best value for the Bianconeri at 1.5, even if Dusan Vlahovic is their runaway top league scorer with 15.
Vlahovic might not have had his shooting boots on in recent games, but that has not stopped him trying. In his last 10 Serie A starts, he has had six or more shots on six occasions. Three of these games were away.
Indeed, the Serbia international has had exactly three or six shots in nine of the last 10 in Serie A. Odds of 4 are well worth considering.
Cagliari are likely to find shots on target hard to come by against a solid visiting defence, which is the second stingiest in the league. Juve are giving up an average of 2.97 shots on target a game.
Ranieri’s side did, however, net twice against Inter, the only team with a better defence than the Turin giants, last weekend. They musted six shots on target in the process.
Eldor Shomurodov produced two of these in just his sixth start of the season. The 28-year-old has 0.85 shots on target per 90 this season and after starting the last four, odds of 1.91 on him shooting on goal just once is a very fair offer.
Centre-back Alberto Dossena is worth some consideration given that he managed both of Cagliari’s two shots when these sides last met. With 0.17 shots on target per 90 this season, his price of 2 is too short to realistically be value.
Predictions:
⚽ Federico Cheisa to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.50
⚽ Dusan Vlahovic to have 6+ shots @ 4.0
⚽ Eldor Shomurdov to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.91
🛑 Fouls stats: Bremer and Locatelli to continue crime spree
Cagliari only gave up eight fouls when these clubs last met, with these free kicks given away by only five different players. Starters Edoardo Goldaniga and Antoine Makoumbou were responsible for four fouls between them, though with the former injured, only the latter is primed to start.
Makoumbou has given up two fouls in three of the last five matches he has played, making his price of 2.1 to do that once again good value.
Cagliari have been remarkably disciplined in recent matches. In their last 11 games, they have only seen more than two cards on three occasions. Over a similar timeframe, Juventus have been shown 25 cards to their hosts’ 20.
Furthermore, Allegri’s side are on a run of 10 successive matches in which they have conceded at least 10 fouls.
In the fouls market, Bremer offers excellent value for the visitors. He committed four indiscretions against Cagliari when the sides previously and has given up multiple free kicks in five of his last eight Serie A games. He is 1.3 to give away one free kick or 2.4 for a greater tally.
Further forward, Manuel Locatelli is on a five-match streak of committing at least one foul across all competitions. He averages only 1.15 fouls per 90 but has given up five in his last two outings. He is 1.2 to continue his one foul streak or 2 to give away multiple.
Predictions:
⚽ Antoine Makoumbou to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.10
⚽ Bremer to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.30
⚽ Bremer to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.40
⚽ Manuel Locatelli to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.20
