A second half rally from Barca saw them run in four against Copenhagen in midweek, confirming them a fifth placed finish in the Champions League, League Phase.

It’s back to domestic action now where Flick’s men need to keep up the momentum, with Real Madrid breathing down their necks, as their arch rivals trail them by just a single point.

Elche sit 11th, which they’ll be happy with, but are winless in their last five and lost 3-1 at the Nou Camp back in November.

📈 Elche v Barcelona Form & Tactics

Barcelona have won 10 from 10 at home, and although they have the second-best away record in La Liga, they are more vulnerable, losing three and drawing one of their 11 fixtures on the road. That includes a 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad in their last away match.

Elche have taken just one defeat on their own turf this season, which came against high-flying Villarreal.

Los Franjiverdes have won five and drawn five amongst their 11 games at the Estadio Martinez Valero. That includes a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid.

That being said, Barcelona have never lost a game here. The head-to-head stands at 4-1-0 in the Catalan giants favour, and they ran out 4-0 winners on their last visit to this ground.

The home record of Elche does make this one look a little bit sticky for Barca. The hosts are no mugs and will put up plenty of fight.

It’s difficult to see past the visitors, though. Even having expended some energy in midweek, there are so many options if rotation is needed, and Barca are just so dominant when they’re in their groove.

It’s no massive surprise to see the bookies really favouring them here at just 1.30 to win, with the hosts out at 7.50.

📔 Elche v Barcelona Formation & Team News

Barca will be in their usual system, a fluid 4-3-3 that can take different forms depending on game state and also personnel available with Barca having a plethora of midfielders all with well-rounded skillsets, but some different niches.

Frenkie De Jong missed out on the midweek game due to suspension, so he’ll be in from the off here and likely on for the whole 90.

They are still without Gavi and Pedri, although both are maybe a month or so away from a return which would be a huge boost to their title charge.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score in midweek so could be pushing for a start here. Lewandowski may be one that has a risk to his minutes, with more focus on managing him given his age.

Elche like to compact the midfield, and will likely look to set up in a 4-5-1 here, which becomes a 4-3-3 in attack with a midfielder breaking from deep.

Victor Chust is back, after serving his suspension for accumulating yellow cards, whilst Hector Fort and Rafa Mir both remain sidelined through injury.
