Arsenal have taken the Premier League title race right to the wire and though their destiny is out of their hands on the final day of the campaign, the Gunners will be determined to keep favourites Man City honest by beating Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side have already posted their best points total since they last landed the Premier League crown in 2004, though their gallant pursuit of silverware still looks like it will come up short.
Everton meanwhile, who have already achieved their primary target of survival, will arrive in the capital in strong late-season form and the Toffees could pose a stiff last-day challenge for their hosts in North London.

⚔️ Arsenal v Everton Head-to-Head
Arsenal travelled to Goodison Park for their second away fixture of the new Premier League season back in September and the Gunners dug out a narrow 1-0 win in a game of few chances on Merseyside.
Arteta’s men dominated most match metrics on that occasion, controlling 74% of the ball, racking up 13 attempts to Everton’s eight and winning a whopping 11 corners to their hosts’ one. The Gunners also won the xG battle in that late afternoon kick-off by 1.00 to 0.30.
Everton, who showcased their defensive robustness under Sean Dyche, limited Arsenal to just four attempts on target and five of the Gunners’ front six starters failed to get a strike on target. Indeed, super sub-Leandro Trossard bagged the game’s defining goal off the bench in the 69th minute.
That slender triumph ended a run of three straight defeats at Goodison Park for Arsenal and the Toffees have enjoyed against-the-odds wins over the Londoners in four of the teams’ last eight Premier League engagements overall.
Recent meetings between the clubs at the Emirates Stadium have been more one-sided however, and Arsenal scored meaty wins over Everton on each of the Toffees’ last two visits to the red-clad reaches of North London.
In last season’s corresponding fixture, Arsenal ran out 4-0 winners with on-fire wingers Bukayo Saka (1G, 1A) and Gabriel Martinelli (2G) proving too hot for the Blues to handle.
The year before that (2022), Arsenal again hosted Everton on the final day of the season, and produced a rousing 5-1 with Martinelli (1G, 1A) and Saka (1A) again very much at the forefront of it.
Recent encounters between Arsenal and Everton have also been remarkably clean from a disciplinary standpoint and their last two tussles featured just three cards combined. The Gunners collected only five cards in total across their last six skirmishes with the Toffees since April 2021.
📊 Arsenal Form and Stats
Arsenal’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday was their fifth Premier League victory on the spin and their 15th success in 17 attempts in the division since January 1st.
It seems remarkable that the Gunners are likely to finish second despite pocketing 46 of the last 51 points on offer, though Manchester City’s relentlessness has again proved impossible to match.
Only the Cityzens (93) have scored more goals than Arsenal this term (89), though the Gunners will finish the campaign with the league’s best defensive record barring a miraculous collapse on Sunday.
Aided by the virtually ever-present central defensive pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, Arsenal have been watertight at the back, offering up just 27.30 in xGA and allowing opponents to clock just 78 shots on target against them so far. Every other Premier League team has conceded at least 100 accurate shots this term, including title favourites City.
Arsenal have kept seven clean sheets in nine league assignments ahead of their final flourish on Sunday and since the turn of the New Year, they’ve conceded just 10.7 xGA combined in 17 Premier League fixtures.
As you’d probably expect from a team that enjoys an average of 58.1% possession per game, Arsenal have collected relatively few cards this season (60) and only Man City have picked up fewer (54).
Impactful duo Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard have been providing more clutch moments for Arsenal than anyone else in the campaign’s late exchanges. Havertz has lodged five goal contributions (3G, 2A) in his last five league appearances, while Trossard has chipped in with four goals in his last five top-tier starts.
📊 Everton Form and Stats
Everton’s 2023/24 campaign has been a tale of triumph in the face of adversity and despite being docked eight points for financial irregularities, the Toffees have still managed to keep themselves up with room to spare.
Indeed, had those eight points been reapplied, the Toffees would have been in the running for a top-half finish ahead of the final day of the season, further highlighting the outstanding job Sean Dyche has done.
In typical Dyche style, much of Everton’s good work this term has been built on solid defensive foundations and the Toffees are in line to complete the campaign with the division’s fourth-best defensive record (49) behind top three incumbents, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool.
At Goodison Park, where Everton have collected 70% of their points, they have been conceding less than a goal per game, while only Sunday’s opponents have kept more clean sheets overall this season (18-13).
Ahead of their final battle, at the Emirates Stadium, Everton have been buoyed by a run of five wins in seven games and all five victories – which were all secured at Goodison Park – were accompanied by shutouts.
Everton have gone ten games on the road without winning, however, and that dismal sequence of six defeats and four draws has not been helped by a meagre haul of just five goals.
Sean Dyche’s side has lacked firepower throughout the 2023/24 season and only relegated bottom-club Sheffield United (35) have scored less often than Everton (39). The Toffees have zero players on double-figure goals for the campaign with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucouré (seven each) coming closest.
Everton have received an average of 2.10 cards per Premier League fixture this season, which is a modest enough return for a team battling against the drop, though veteran defender James Tarkowski accounts for ten of their 78 cards himself.
💰 Arsenal v Everton Best Bets
Though the odds are firmly against them, Arsenal will be keen to put as much pressure as possible on title rivals Manchester City on the final day of the campaign and it could be worth backing the Gunners to establish a first half lead with that in mind. Half Time result: Arsenal can be backed at 1.50 with Betfair.
Arsenal have been ahead at the break in three of their last four and nine of their 18 home league fixtures overall this term, and a rapid start on Sunday could allow them to get their noses in front by half time again.
In-form Kai Havertz meanwhile, has serious credentials to get a goal contribution, and you can back Kai Havertz to score or assist at 1.67 with Betfair. The 24-year-old set up Arsenal’s winning goal at Old Trafford last weekend and the ex-Chelsea attacker has lodged either a goal or an assist in nine of his last 13 starts in the Premier League.
