Serbia come into this tournament, their first-ever Euros as Serbia, as underdogs, but with a crop of players that clearly have a lot of ability. Forward options are so rich that the likes of Luka Jovic and Dusan Tadic aren’t guaranteed a start.
England have selection issues of their own to sort out as well. Injuries to Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and John Stones, have caused various levels of disruption to Gareth Southgate’s regular back four and have meant different things for each player. Maguire hasn’t travelled, Shaw is being nursed back to health mid-tournament, and Stones is expected to start but will be watched carefully.
Excitement levels in both countries are high though, and kick-off will launch nervous expectation for both teams to deliver for the millions watching in Serbia and England.
Serbia v England Best Bets
➡️ Jude Bellingham to be fouled 2+ times @ 1.62 on Paddy Power
➡️ Phil Foden to be fouled 1+ times @ 1.20 on Paddy Power
England are a justifiably short price to win the match here, due to the gulf in the rankings between the nations and the threat that England will cause to Serbia from an attacking perspective, especially in wider areas where Serbia look weak defensively.
However, there is little value to be had in the outright win and related markets. Harry Kane is the most likely England scorer, but even his price of even money to find the net looks too skinny for best bet material, instead it may pay to look at a different angle.
Serbia had the 6th worst foul ratio in qualification of the teams that qualified for the finals. England have a number of players who are very clever and influential with the ball at their feet, who also have a record of being fouled in recent internationals. In terms of a best bet for this match, it is worth looking at combining some of the England players to be fouled, which also brings into play the Paddy Power Super Sub bonus on this market.
Combining Jude Bellingham to be fouled twice, Bukayo Saka to be fouled, and Phil Foden to be fouled works out at a price of 2.3, with the Super Sub bonus coming into play if Saka or Foden are replaced during the game, which seems fairly likely. Of that potential treble, Foden’s price of 1.20 does appeal as a smart bet to combine in this match.
Bellingham has been fouled a remarkable 13 times in three internationals, he has become a marked man since his incredible rise over the last couple of years. Saka was one of the most fouled players in the Premier League last season and has been fouled at least once in nine of his last ten England matches, and Foden had been fouled in six England matches in a row until the recent Iceland friendly.

⚔️ Serbia v England Head-to-Head
There is no history between Serbia and England, this will be the first time that the countries meet in this form.
England did beat Serbia & Montenegro 2-1 in a friendly in 2003, and they have a slight edge historically over Yugoslavia with five wins to four, and five draws.
📊 Serbia Form and Stats
Serbia qualified for the Euros in a relatively unconvincing fashion.
Drawn in a group that didn’t contain any nation ranked inside the top 20 in the world, Serbia won only half of their matches and finished 2nd to Hungary, some four points behind having been beaten home and away by the Group A side.
Friendly matches since qualification have been up and down, with two losses and two victories. Thankfully for them, their last match before the tournament was by far the most convincing, a 3-0 victory in Sweden.
Goals have been regular in Serbia matches of late though, with eight of their last ten going over 2.5. Six of their last ten have seen both teams score as well, so this is a potential angle to look at against England.
In recent matches against the top nations, Serbia have lost friendlies to Belgium and Brazil, but beat Portugal away from home and drew with them at home in World Cup qualification.
📊 England Form and Stats
From a competitive, qualification perspective, England are in excellent form. They completed another facile qualification campaign with top spot wrapped up before the final round of qualifiers.
In the end, their record stood at six wins and two draws in a tough group that included Italy, Ukraine, and North Macedonia, all regular qualifiers for finals in recent years.
Friendly matches since qualification have taken the shine off that record though. One win versus Bosnia & Herzegovina, a last-gasp draw against Belgium, and defeats to Brazil and, lastly, Iceland, have left more questions than answers for the tournament ahead, especially for a nation considered favourites for the trophy by many.
Five of England’s last ten have been wins, with three draws, and two defeats. Only four of the ten have seen over 2.5 goals, and five of ten have seen both teams scoring.
