The final UFC event of 2024 takes place this Sunday morning UK time from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, as Colby Covington looks to get back on track in the welterweight rankings as he faces the boisterous Joaquin Buckley.
It’s why we’ve found some good value in the MMA tips & best bets below:
- Covington v Buckley: Fight to Go the Distance – Yes (1.80)
- Manel Kape by Decision/Tec Decision (1.91)
- Daniel Marcos to Win (1.50)
- Ottman Azaitar to Win (2.63)
Colby Covington (#6) v Joaquin Buckley (#8) – Welterweight
👊🏻 Fight to Go the Distance – Yes (1.80)
- Colby Covington makes his return to the Octagon after nearly a year as he faces Joaquin Buckley in the main event of the final UFC event of 2024.
- Covington last lost a unanimous decision to Leon Edwards in what was the California native’s fourth title fight.
Buckley himself is on the best run of his career, riding a five-fight win streak. - Bookmakers have it priced generously for this fight to go the distance, coming in at odds of 8/11.
- Nine of Covington’s 17 wins have come by way of the judges’ scorecards, mainly down to his grappling ability and tremendous cardio.
- This will be Buckley’s first time taking on a five-round fight, and given his tremendous KO power, expect Covington to bring him to the mat to grind out a UD victory.
Manel Kape (#9) v Bruno Silva (#12) – Flyweight
👊🏻 Manel Kape by Decision/Tec Decision (1.91)
- Despite his fantastic KO power, Manel Kape is well-priced to take the win against Bruno Silva via the judges’ scorecards on Sunday morning.
- The Angolan-born fighter is coming off a decision loss to Muhammad Mokaev back at UFC 304, in a fight that really did not live up to expectations.
- With Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja dismantling newcomer Kai Asakura with ease to defend the belt last week, there really is an open door for any top ten flyweight to land a title opportunity, and that will be in Kape’s mind despite coming off a loss.
- Bruno Silva himself is riding an impressive four-fight KO streak that has seen him earn a spot in the UFC flyweight rankings, but Kape is not a man easily perturbed by KO power given he has never been knocked out in his pro career.
- Kape will be keen to get this done without anything too fancy, and the odds of 10/11 for him to win via decision look generous enough to back.
Adrian Yanez v Daniel Marcos – Bantamweight
👊🏻 Daniel Marcos to Win (1.50)
- Bantamweights meet on the main card of this UFC Fight Night, as undefeated Peruvian Daniel Marcos locks horns with Adrian Yañez in this three-round bout.
- Yañez returned to winning ways in May following a two-fight losing streak to Rob Font and Jonathan Martinez.
- Before this, Yañez was riding a five-fight win streak in the organisation, and now looks to hand Marcos his first pro loss.
- That being said, Marcos looks to have the slight edge and his price is slightly more appealing.
- Yañez may be the more seasoned fighter, but Marcos is certainly the more well-rounded given his performances since debuting in the UFC.
Michael Johnson v Ottman Azaitar – Lightweight
👊🏻 Ottman Azaitar to Win (2.63)
- Speaking of appealing prices, I’m amazed at Ottman Azaitar being priced as the heavy underdog against UFC veteran Michael Johnson.
- Yes, the Morrocan is riding a two-fight losing streak, but this seems like the perfect opportunity to get back on track against a gatekeeper for lightweights in the UFC.
- Johnson will be entering his 15th year in the UFC in 2025, an astounding achievement for a fighter that holds memorable wins over the likes of Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson.
- However his record of 22-19 speaks volumes, and while he has stabilized his career in recent years trading wins and losses, Azaitar is certainly a step above what he has faced in recent outings.
- The price of 13/8 is insane for Azaitar to take this one on the nose, and round up our final bet for this Sunday’s accumulator.
