Mainz v Bayer Leverkusen
🏟
Friday 18th February – 7:30PM KO
There’s little doubt that Mainz have somewhat stagnated in the Bundesliga mid table this season, as they sit ninth in the league with just two wins from their last five games. But fortunately for Bo Svensson’s side, a strong home record has kept them well clear of relegation and a serious challenge for ambitious teams like Bayer Leverkusen.
As such, Friday night’s clash at the Mewa Arena will probably be too hard to call and we should instead expect lots of goals.
So far this season Svensson’s side have bagged an impressive 21 goals in 11 home games and their ties in front of their home fans tend to average around 2.36 goals per match. And there’s little doubt that Leverkusen only add a greater chance of goals to that already impressive average.
Indeed, Gerardo Seoane’s side have been almost as impressive on the road as Mainz have been at home and along the way they’ve scored a massive 28 goals in just 11 away games this season. Their own away matches have averaged an incredible 4.09 goals per match.
With no serious injuries on either side to worry about, we should expect both sides to throw everything at this match in what should be an entertaining, high-scoring affair on Friday night. We can certainly expect goals so that’s where you should put your money.

Arminia Bielefeld v Union Berlin
🏟
Saturday 19th February – 2:30PM KO
Few teams have impressed in the Bundesliga since the turn of the year as much as Arminia Bielefeld and Frank Kramer’s side have largely done that with solid, defensive tactics that grind out results.
Indeed, no side has conceded fewer goals in the Bundesliga than the recently-promoted side over the course of the last seven match days and that will surely come to dominate their clash with Union on Saturday.
Bielefeld have not only conceded just 16 goals in 11 home games this season but eight of their last 10 games across all competitions have ended with fewer than 2.5 goals between both sides.
Although Urs Fischer’s side have impressed on the road this season with the sixth best points tally in the league from away games, scoring goals certainly hasn’t been their strong suit. They’ve only managed to bag 15 from 11 away games and have scored just eight in their last five away games in all competitions.
There’s every chance that Union will take points from their opponents on Saturday, but we can just about rest assured that this clash will be a low-scoring affair that could easily swing either way.

Augsburg v Freiburg
🏟
Saturday 19th February – 2:30PM KO
Freiburg have been a tricky side to predict in recent weeks, with impressive wins over Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach being matched by comfortable defeats at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and FC Koln. However, Christian Streich’s side usually seem to find the back of the net in each game.
Indeed, over the course of their last 15 games in all competitions, the Black Forest side have failed to score on just three occasions and when they make the trip to Bavaria to take on Augsburg on Saturday they’ll certainly be hoping for more of the same.
Augsburg, like their coming visitors, have also struggled for form of late with just two wins and just four defeats in their last 10 games. However, if Markus Weinzierl’s side do hold any hope of avoiding relegation it will be their home form, which has also tended to provide plenty of goals.
In 10 matches in front of their own fans this season, Augsburg have scored 15 goals and haven’t failed to find the back of the net at least once per game since their opening clash of the season against Hoffenheim.
Trying to predict the result between these two wildly inconsistent sides would be little more than a fool’s errand. Instead, we’re far better banking on both teams to find the back of the net at least once.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score, 1.65 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Stuttgart v Bochum
🏟
Saturday 19th February – 2:30PM KO
There will certainly be alarm bells going off around the Mercedes Benz Arena right now, as Stuttgart remain stuck in 17th place with just two wins from their last 10 games and little hope of turning that around against Bochum on Saturday.
The hosts have been truly hopeless of late and most worrying for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side is that they look truly incapable of scoring goals. In their last five games, the Swabian giants have managed to score just six and in the five games before that they bagged just four goals.
Although Stuttgart’s home games have averaged 3.72 goals per game this season, that has largely been fueled by bigger clubs arriving and racking up impressive score lines against their hosts. Bochum, instead, play a far more defensive game and would look to keep the scoreline as low as possible.
Indeed, Thomas Reis’ side have been far from convincing on the road this season with just two wins from 11 and have also struggled to find the back of the net with just seven goals from those clashes on the road.
However, as the recently-promoted side showed against Hertha Berlin last weekend, they can squeeze out results against teams in the bottom half of the table by simply starving the game of any attacking intent.

Wolfsburg v Hoffenheim
🏟
Saturday 19th February – 2:30PM KO
After going on a six-game winless run in the Bundesliga, there are whispers of a potential turnaround at Wolfsburg under young manager Florian Kohfeldt, whose side now look far more comfortable in front of goal and as such are beginning to pick up points in the league.
Six goals in their last two league games will mean the Wolves go into Saturday’s clash in a good run of form and will be expecting to continue that trend against a Hoffenheim side that have conceded 22 goals from 11 home games this season.
Indeed, even despite their poor run of form, Wolfsburg’s home games have still averaged 2.45 goals per match, while Hoffenheim’s games on the road have averaged an even more entertaining 3.64 goals per game.
Both teams do have a number of injuries to contend with, but Wolfsburg will be hoping that their new-look front line of Max Kruse, Aster Vranckx and Jonas Wind will once again be able to put their opponents to the sword and pick up another impressive result.
However, even if Wolfsburg aren’t able to pick up another victory, we can still expect plenty of goals from both sides in this coming clash.

Koln v Eintract Frankfurt
🏟
Saturday 19th February – 5:30PM KO
There’s little doubt that both FC Koln and Eintracht Frankfurt have stumbled in the Bundesliga lately, but that hasn’t seemed to have a huge impact on the goals they’re scoring – or conceding – in each match.
For example, the home side in Saturday’s encounter have perhaps only managed to bag eight goals in their last six games but they’ve also conceded a further nine. Which means they’ve seen an average of 2.83 goals per game in front of their own fans since the turn of the year.
Frankfurt, despite their own wobbles on the road, have continued to entertain fans and critics alike, with 13 goals scored in their last six games alongside shipping nine conceded goals along the way. As such, their recent away form has seen an average of 3.67 goals scored per game.
Fortunately for both sides, it also seems as though there are no fresh injury concerns from an attacking point of view, with Anthony Modeste back up front for Koln and Frankfurt likely to put out their first-choice front three of Filip Kostic, Jesper Lindstrom and Rafael Borre in front of the ever-green playmaker Daichi Kamada.
This game may be too close to call, but we can certainly expect plenty of goals from this evening “top spiel” clash between two of the Bundesliga’s most entertaining clubs.
