BK Häcken v Djurgårdens IF
🏟
Sunday 24th July – 4:30PM KO
The Allsvenskan’s two most in-form teams come face to face with the winner going top of the table. The home team has been scintillating all year, a stark contrast to last season’s struggles. With only one loss to date – in the derby against IFK Göteborg early in the campaign – BK Häcken are the frontrunners and have shown no signs of slowing down. Unbeaten in 11, they sit atop the Allsvenskan table with a game in hand. Demolished GIF Sundsvall 5-1 on Monday and are the league’s highest scorers in goals per game and xG, however their defensive record is nowhere near as impressive. Have somewhat shockingly not kept a clean sheet all season long, and their motto is to outscore their opponents, as evidenced by 19 goals conceded (23 xG against).
The other danger to Häcken’s title charge is their squad getting picked apart this summer. Leo Bengtsson has already left – albeit they have capable cover in Uddenäs – and Gustav Berggren is on the way out too. He’s travelling to Poland to finalise a transfer and will undoubtedly be the bigger loss of the two.
Djurgården go from strength to strength, again mightily impressive in the 5-0 drubbing of IFK Värnamo last week. That makes it five wins in a row with a goal difference of 17-2 in those matches. Are looking increasingly like the team to beat and could make a real statement in this game. Played a full-strength lineup in the 2-1 UECL qualifier away win at Rijeka on Thursday but have plenty of strength in depth to rotate adequately. Sead Haksabanovic leaving at the end of his loan this summer seems to have only made the team more cohesive, everyone pulling in the same direction and the goals being shared around the squad. Magnus Eriksson is back to the form of last season, scoring his first two goals of the campaign last week.
This should be a real spectacle with both teams going for the win. No doubt we’ll see goals, likely in both directions.

Kalmar FF v Elfsborg
🏟
Sunday 24th July – 4:30PM KO
A mid-table clash between two stubborn teams battling for 6th place, don’t expect too many fireworks here.
Kalmar are as solid as they come playing in front of their own fans, with only two losses at home this season (to Malmö and Norrköping). In the other five matches, they have only conceded a single goal, nullifying and beating both Djurgården and Hammarby at Guldfågeln Arena. Kalmar don’t score many, but manager Henrik Rydström has made them possession-heavy and incredibly hard to play against since his return to the club. Suffered a narrow defeat last weekend against AIK in a close contest, their first loss in six matches. Sebastian Nanasi, a strong reinforcement from Malmö, adds offensive quality and is likely ready to debut here.
Elfsborg, meanwhile, fielded a full-strength side in the UECL qualifying game less than 72 hours prior to this match, meaning there will be some tired legs having travelled back from Norway. Impressive in the first half against a classy Molde team but collapsed completely in the second, eventually losing 4-1.
Elfsborg are much more free-scoring than their opponents but their style of play allows for large gaps defensively, as evidenced by 18.6 xG against in 14 Allsvenskan matches. The Borås side has been porous recently and struggled for results, only winning one of the last six matches (although the run of games has been tough).
Expect to see some rotation from the away side who lack strength in depth, with Kalmar nicely rested. The home advantage weighs heavy and the hosts should walk away with at least a point.
