It’s time for the final round of the Nations League, and in Group 1 things are exciting. Going into the game, Denmark need a victory, and Croatia to drop points against Austria, to take the first place in the group, while France just need to match Austria’s point total to avoid relegation. It is thus a fixture where both teams have plenty on the line.
To make things even better, it is the final national team game before the World Cup, where the two teams meet again, and both coaches could thus be tempted to do a little experimentation. However, without showing all of their hands before the crucial World Cup match in November.
Denmark v France Bet Builder Tips
France to Win
The Nations League has been a serious disappointment for the reigning world champions. France was expected to win the group, but have instead lost at home to both Denmark and Croatia. They are now in danger of relegation, which would be a disaster.
However, they are still the best team on paper in the group, and they looked good in their 2-0 victory over Austria Thursday evening.
The French team is stacked with stars, and with Mbappé and Olivier Giroud in excellent form these days, they have more than enough firepower to possess a serious threat to Denmark.
Denmark is one of the fairy tales of world football at the moment, but their game Thursday wasn’t good. The Danes are without both Andreas Cornelius, Jonas Wind and Yussuf Poulsen, which leaves the squad with a lack of serious striking options. Denmark relies too heavily on Eriksen at the moment, and against Croatia they had a tough time creating chances.
Furthermore, the Danish defense made some uncharacteristic mistakes against Croatia. Kasper Schmeichel has lost his starting spot for Nice, and both him and the central defenders, Joachim Andersen and Simon Kjær, looked a little disorganized in Thursday’s game.

Prediction: France to Win
France to Win
Next up is a safe bet on this bet builder. The previous meeting between these two sides ended with a 2-1 victory to Denmark in France, so one could be tempted to select a higher line. However, Denmark and France traditionally don’t play matches rich in goals.
Of the eight matches between these two countries this millennium, only three of them have ended with over 2.5 goals. However, when we lower the line slightly, the picture is quite different. Six of the eight matches have finished with over 1.5 goals, and every bet builder needs a safe bet.
When looking at the two teams, there are also a lot of reasons to believe the match should cover the line. Since the start of 2020, Denmark have only failed to cover this line in 5 out of 33 national team matches. For France we have a similar picture with 6 times out of the previous 30 matches.
However, the reason for this bet is not purely statistical but rather how the two teams match up against each other. The lethal French offensive led by Kylian Mbappé is without a doubt going to cause trouble for the slower Danish defenders. Furthermore, the Danish full backs prefer to contribute offensively with a high position on the pitch, which creates a lot of space for the fast French midfielders and strikers to run deep.
Meanwhile on the Danish side of things, Christian Eriksen is once again in stellar form for the national team, and he scored a fantastic goal against Croatia. The Danish offense is not as high profile as the French, but with Eriksen playing like he is these days, it can punish even the best teams.

Prediction: Over 1.5 Goals
Kylian Mbappe to Score or Assist
After Denmark’s offensively disappointing game against Croatia, Kasper Hjulmand needs to get a bit of confidence back into his players. I expected Denmark to be slightly more attacking than in their previous game, and this could open space for Kylian Mbappe.
The Paris Saint-Germain ace played excellently in France’s 2-0 victory against Austria Thursday, scoring the first goal, and he is in great form. This season, he has scored seven goals in seven Ligue 1 matches and another three in two Champions League matches.
He is the focal point of the French team, and everything goes through him. He should get through to several chances on his own, but we go for the extra security and include him making an assist at the cost of a slightly lower odds.
Up front, Mbappe plays with Olivier Giroud, and the AC Milan striker is also in great shape. He is AC Milan’s top scorer this season, and also scored an excellent header against Austria.
There is a lot of talent around Mbappe, and France shouldn’t have a hard time getting through on goal. They were the better team in the first meeting between the two countries, although they were unlucky to lose, and now it is time for Les Bleus to take their revenge.
