FC Twente v FC Emmen
When we stopped for the World Cup, the Dutch Eredivisie had just begun to find its rhythm. Twente are in fifth place; they’re chasing Europa Conference League qualification again.
The Tukkers have a formidable home record, going undefeated in Enschede since May and winning all but one of their home league games thus far.
As for Emmen, they had been starting to gain a few good results; they went only one defeat in six as they look to get out of relegation trouble. They enjoyed a memorable 3-3 draw with Ajax at home, but during the World Cup break, they suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Feyenoord, where a few defenders were guilty of some poor mistakes.
I think we will see a continuation of the first part of the season. Emmen won’t have enough to pose a threat to such a tight defence – Twente have conceded the fewest out of all the teams in the Eredivisie (just nine goals from fourteen) – and they can’t keep out a side who will just keep patiently knocking on the door if they have a frustrating first half or so.
