🐎 Andy’s Cheltenham Day 3 Lucky 15
Nurburgring fared well on his sole attempt at this venue when finishing 4th in last season’s Triumph Hurdle.
He could be attractively handicapped over fences from an official mark of 143 – some 7lb below his hurdle rating.
Returning to Cheltenham, coupled with the likelihood of quicker ground (won on good), offers plenty of positives for a bold showing.
Protektorat won this race last year and is a consistent type who will definitely stay the trip, he could run a big race and retain his crown here.
Having shown improvement in each start this season, he thrashed the re-opposing Djelo at Windsor last time out.
The market leaders, Fact To File and Il Est Francais, look far too short in the betting. The former won a modest Grade One here last term and the latter has shown his best form on flatter tracks.
The Wallpark has stepped up in class after several impressive handicap hurdle victories, including here at Cheltenham in October – that run marked a 4th consecutive victory.
He was 4th in the Grade One Long Walk Hurdle last time out and wasn’t suited by the slow pace on that occasion. He should get more joy on this testing circuit.
It was a positive from his owner, JP McManus, that he runs here, given he had another entry at the festival this week.
Nine Graces won her first chase last time out over 2m6f at Punchestown with relative ease, despite being hampered by a falling horse in the latter stages.
She travelled sweetly that day and powered clear, in the manner of an improving type.
Stepped up to 3m2f here, the extra distance may unlock further progress, she looks to be peaking at the right time.
