Yverdon-Sport received a shot across the bow last weekend in the promotion hunt courtesy of their 5-0 defeat at Stade Lausanne-Ouchy. Having only lost one of their previous seven, a defeat that came by a single goal, it was a surprise to see the previously high-flying YS dismantled at the Pontaise. Away form has generally been hit and miss and this defeat coming just over a month after a 4-0 loss away to the only other side above them in the league in FC Wil is perhaps a sign that Yverdon are not at the same level as their rivals in contention for the automatic promotion spots.

Neuchatel Xamax remain at the bottom of the table. Despite that, they have a newfound steel about them and will eventually pull themselves above Schaffhausen or Vaduz if they can maintain an unbeaten run that now stretches to six matches. Five of those games have been drawn, but considering the position the team were in at the early stages of the season, this is a huge improvement. The 1-1 draw at home to Wil, while impressive against the league leaders, continued a common theme as Xamax scored for a fourteenth game in a row but were ultimately unable to keep the goals out for a seventh consecutive game. A 4-0 win over Bellinzona in early October represents their only clean sheet since April.
