Santos are in disarray at the moment. Another defeat at the weekend to Cruzeiro – and a heavy 3-0 one at home – felt like a result which could see them relegated from Serie A.

The famous club hasn’t ever tasted relegation, but with just two wins from their ten, it’s firmly on the cards.

To make matters worse, they’ve just sacked their third manager of the season – Diego Aguirre was given just 39 days, in which he’s lost four of his five matches in charge.

Fans are protesting, their next two home matches will be played behind closed doors due to the fan’s inappropriate behaviour against Gremio – and the way the which the club is being run would frighten any accountant.

Star assets Angelo and Deivid Washington were sold to Chelsea to balance the books, but that has significantly weakened them as a result.

Although young star Marcos Leonardo leads the line, he’s become isolated in recent weeks – with his opportunities becoming almost nonexistent in Santos’ moment of need. He refused to train a couple of weeks back during the transfer window, in order to push a move to Roma, but the club had no choice but to keep him. However, with no service, his role has become redundant.

Bahia, on the other hand, beat Coritiba on the road at the weekend, scoring four in the process. Back in front of their faithful fans, they’ll be looking to extend their five-match unbeaten run at home. Within this period, they also put four past Bragantino and three against America MG – and it’s safe to say they’ve found their rhythm as they steer away from the relegation zone.

Santos have scored just three on the road from eleven matches, and just once in their last seven. Everything points towards a home victory which should be the banker bet of the week.
