Luke Littler to win v Nathan Aspinall
Luke Littler leads the way in this year’s Premier League and following his victory in Liverpool last Thursday he looks as good as through to finals night. On his way to last week’s success, he defeated Nathan Aspinall in the semi-final.
That was their fifth meeting in the Premier League this year and with Littler having won four of these five matches, you have to expect him to assert his dominance over ‘The Asp’ again.
‘The Nuke’ backed up last week’s success and his third nightly Premier League win by heading off to the Euro Tour and winning the Austrian Darts Open in impressive fashion.
While Littler was picking up more trophies, Aspinall was taking a well earned rest in Las Vegas with Michael Smith and we think that plays into the hands of the current table-topper, who has instead kept that winning feeling going.
Michael Smith to win v Peter Wright
Following the late withdrawal of Gerwyn Price our other leg of the double reverts to Michael Smith to beat Peter Wright.
This is a must-win game for ‘Bully Boy’ who realistically is the only player who can break into the Top Four, and following last week’s results there’s no margin for error against ‘Snakebite’ who’s been languishing adrift at the bottom of the table for much of this event and is substantially averaging the lowest in the event.
The pair clashed on Night Six in Brighton and despite Michael Smith being well off the pace he still managed to find a way to win 6-5.
Smith has won his opening match in three of the last four weeks and the two points he would secure here by doing that would keep him in contention for a play-off place, especially as Nathan Aspinall has a tricky opener against Luke Littler and MVG has shown vulnerable signs the last few weeks.
Wright suffered a Last 16 defeat at the weekend in Graz and almost threw away a commanding lead against the American Danny Lauby before closing out a last leg victory. His level is still not what it needs to be, to be competitive in this competition. Smith in the meantime opted to recharge his batteries in Las Vegas. If that’s done the trick we expect him to prevail here.

Premier League Darts Night 14 Outright Winner
🏆 Luke Littler to win
Littler is in amazing form at present. He comes into this week on a nine-match winning streak following his victory last week in Liverpool and his success on the Euro Tour at the weekend. He’s not just winning, he’s playing well also, registering nine 100+ averages in his last 14 matches.
His recent record in this event is excellent too. After failing to win any of the opening eight nights, he’s now won three of the last five weeks and reached the final in one of the two weeks he wasn’t successful in that period.
He is the only player who looks to have a guaranteed spot in finals night at present and opens up against Nathan Aspinall, a player he’s enjoyed an excellent record against this year.
The other two players in his half are Peter Wright and Michael Smith. As we know Snakebite is really struggling of late and Smith – like Aspinall – enjoyed some time in Vegas last weekend. That may count against both of those two, so we are expecting an in-form Luke Littler to rule the roost in this section.
🏆 Luke Humphries to win
Humphries is chasing Littler in second place and has the highest tournament average in the event at 100.80. He exited early last week but it was one of those occasions where you have to accept that your opponent was phenomenal, as that’s exactly what Aspinall was.
Similar to Littler, he has also won three nights, the last one coming in week eight. Since then he’s not played badly, he’s just run into the following averages in defeat: 102.02, 100.80, 107.23, 97.18 and 106.29. The Premier League is a tough school at times.
His evening kicks off against Gerwyn Price, who despite playing well has continued to come up short on too many occasions in this year’s Premier League. There are doubts about his fitness following his weekend withdrawal from the Austrian Darts Open and he hasn’t beaten Humphries in the competition this year.
The other two in the bottom half are Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen, who have been inconsistent lately. There’s been glimpses of what they’re capable of but quite often this is followed by a sub-standard performance which has ultimately been their downfall.
‘Cool Hand’ looks the most reliable in this section and he has said all his efforts for these last few weeks are based around trying to win the Premier League. Indeed, he skipped Austria to ensure he’s in prime condition, physically and mentally for the concluding weeks of this event and he might just reap the rewards of that here.
